ST:XI story rec

Reccing a ST:XI story I just read...and you'll know that it must be good if I also reveal it's got K/Mc elements in it, because I'm usually not that kind of girl!  But seriously...I love the style irnan's used, love her "voice", love the way she's portrayed all the characters...just love it! Go, read.

Part of the Process by irnan

Yeah, I didn't like it in TOS at all. The dynamic just was NOT there in the show, and, well, I dunno. I am not about slashing two guys *just because they're guys*. Some people like that, hey--that's their thing.

That said...on the other hand, in ST:XI, I can see why people go there. It's *EASY*. McCoy and Kirk are all palsy with each other, and it's a cheap and easy place to start from for writing.

*never let it be said* I take the cheap and easy path in my stories...LOL! Not to mention that, to me, their dynamic in these stories is BOR-ING. *yawn* There's no spark, no tension between them. They're good friends. McCoy mothers Jim, for god's sake! That is NOT my idea of a hot relationship to read about!

Okay, now THAT all said...re: irnan's story? The only reason the K/Mc didn't bother me is because it was NOT the focus of the story. Not at all. It was incidental to it, almost a part of the scenery, and that was ok. I could easily ignore it because it didn't blast itself in my face. It felt (almost) as if it were simply Jim & Bones as best friends with no sex. Which, yeah. The real focus of the story were all the characters' dynamics and inner experiences we saw. Very cool.

I saw that story listed somewhere, and it seemed intriquing. Just haven't gotten around to reading, but now I'll make a point of it.
