...that scene from...one of the films (?)...um.

I'm having trouble finding all the pieces of my brain, thanks very much.

LOL That's from the first movie, ST:TMP. The one where they wear those gray pajamas LOL. The one with the 20min long psychedelic spaceship scene, where everybody toked up as soon as the weird music started.

Ah...those were the days.

See, when the original fans went *there* (actually, I think the first slash was published around, er, 1975?ish, so before this movie) we had DAMN GOOD REASON to do it: Shat and Nimoy, et. al, handed it to us on a platter. With garnish. And hey, Shat's still doing it, tongue in cheek (whose cheek, you ask?) with Spader on Boston Legal. He's got a hell of a sense of humor, and a love to indulge it and the fans. Nimoy and Shat's obvious chemistry, stemming from their real-life friendship/compatibility, fueled it all...that's something that really can't be faked.

I love Star Trek for giving us strong heroic leads...who are so gay it hurts--they sit in the captain's chair with their legs crossed *so* nicely! (Kirk!! Picard!!)

Can't wait to see that first film, in any case! But I've got to finish watching Season 3 first. I'm maybe a third of the way in...

*sigh* Season Three...what can you say? The writing got...um. They resorted to bad tropes and sex all too often. But a few of my favorites are there: Enterprise Incident, Tholian Web, The Empath, All Our Yesterdays, and even Turnabout Intruder. Some pretty good canon to build on. I just try to ignore the gratuitous relationships in the other eps, not to mention (ugh) Spock's Brain. LOLOLOL

ETA: okay, I'll admit, I seekritly like Elaan of Troyius and Requiem for Methuselah...I really love watching Kirk and Elaan get into a bitch slap fight. And the immortal idea in Requiem is really cool. Not to mention a certain scene at the END of the episode, which I won't spoil. I'll just say it happens in the captain's cabin.....

EagainTA: okaaaay...I'm being prompted to also add I really love the canon value in Is There in Truth No Beauty? Something about Diana Muldaur, tho, always annoyed me, so it colored my ability to *love* that ep. Some great Spock is Wild, tho :-)

To give you an idea where I am, I've so far watched up through Plato's Stepchildren. I really did enjoy Tholian Web; I've already flagged it as one of the episodes to deal with, so to speak, in my S3 fic arc, when the time comes!

(I have also flagged Is There in Truth... ;)

Oh, excellent!

Ok, now I'm sitting here with ST:TMP on in the background while I attempt more of the ST:XI story I've started.

:dialogue and character dissonance: :shakes head:

I also wanted to point out that not only does the *movie* make it hard to ignore the K/S, Gene Roddenberry himself wrote in the ST:TMP novelization a footnote, on page, er, 63?, that makes it pretty damn hard to deny the reality of their relationship. That's where the term "t'hy'la" comes from...Roddenberry created it.

God Bless Gene Roddenberry!

Yep, I'm well aware of where t'hy'la comes from! I made sure I researched that bit first ;)
